Pavakka Kichadi without coconut

Pavakka kichadi without coconut is an easy preparation with bittergourd.

The traditional pavakka kichadi made as part of Kerala Sadhya uses coconut.

This recipe uses fried bittegourd and tastes more like a raita.

Ingredients

Bittergourd – 1

Green chillies, chopped – 5

Salt – as needed

Curd – ¼ litre

Coconut oil – as needed

For Tempering

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Dry red chillies – 1

Curry leaves

METHOD

Cut bitter gourd into thin round pieces.

Fry bitter gourd pieces and crush them.

Beat curd nicely to remove any lumps.

Add crushed bitter gourd and green chillies to beaten curd.

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When it pops, add dry red chilli and curry leaves.

Pour tempering above curry.

Easy pavakka kichadi without coconut is ready to be served.
