Chettinad chicken fry

Ingredients

Chicken along with bones – 12 pieces
Salt as needed
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Oil as needed
Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Dry red chillies -10-15 ( torn in to 3 pieces)
Curry leaves – a handful
Shallots – 1/4 kg  (cut into 4)
Tomato pieces – 2 nos
Coriander leaves – for garnishing

Ingredients

Marinate chicken pieces with turmeric powder and salt for 1/2 an hour. Heat oil in a pan, add fennel seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves.When the red chillies starts changing the colour, add  shallots and saute. When the shallots turn brown in colour, add tomatoes and saute well. Now add chicken and mix well. At this stage, sprinkle some salt water and saute again. Add some more water and close the lid, let it cook. When the chicken is cooked and has become dry without water, add coriander leaves. Serve hot along with rice or chapathis.
