Cheera Parippu Curry

 

Cheera parippu curry is a combination of red spinach and chana dal curry.

Chana dal is cooked and set aside. Spinach is cooked with a tadka of mustard seeds. Later cooked dal is combined. This is best served as a curry for chapati.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup chana dal
  • 1 small bunch spinach
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp oil

Method

Pressure cook chana dal along with water till 3 whistles. Set aside cooked dal.

Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds. Add onion and green chilli. Sauté well. Add turmeric powder and chilli powder. Sauté till the raw smell disappears.

Add spinach and salt. Close the lid and cook on low flame. Sprinkle some water if needed. When it is done, add dal and cook for another 3 minutes.
