Vazhakka Dry Curry

 This curry is really different  from the usual curries we make and delicious.

Ingredients

1) Raw banana – 2  medium 

   Onion, sliced – 1 No.

   Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

    Coconut oil – 1 tsp

       To Grind      

2) Grated coconut – 1/ 2 cup 

    Coriander seeds – 1 tsp

    Pepper – 1 and 1 /2 tsp

    Jeera   – 1 tsp

    Red chillies – 3 nos 

    Garlic –  2 cloves

3) Oil – 1 tbsp

    Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

    Urad dal – 1tsp

    Curry leaves – 1 sprig



Method

Peel the skin of banana and cut into pieces, and place them  in water. Wash them. 

Grind the ingredients from 2 (mentioned above) to a coarse paste. 

Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard, urad dal and curry leaves. Add onion. Saute till they are transparent. Add raw bananas along with coarse paste, 1/4 cup of water, salt and turmeric. Mix well and cook covered for 4 minutes in medium  flame.  When  the water evaporates completely and the paste turns golden in color, add little coconut oil and transfer to a serving bowl.


This curry is a perfect combo for moru curry or rasam.
