Banana fritters / pazhampori

A very famous nalumani palaharam (teatime snack) of Kerala and you get to buy it in every restaurant, roadside snack shops, trains, hostel canteens, etc.

Recipe for Pazhampori (banana fritters)


Ripe bananas  (nenthrapazham)    – 2 nos
Wheat  flour                 – 3 /4  cup
Rice flour                      – 1 /4 cup     

Cardamom powder       – 2 pinches
Water
Oil



Method


Cut banana lengthwise. 


Mix all ingredients from the ingredient list except for ripe banana to prepare the batter. Add water little by little to make the batter. The batter should be lump free after all the mixing done.The batter should not be too thick or thin in consistency (you can check my video on how to make pazhampori to have a look of the batter consistency).


Heat oil in a pan. Dip banana in the batter and coat the batter evenly. Now deep fry batter-coated bananas in hot oil. Remove on to a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Serve pazhampori/banana fritters with hot chai.
