Pazhampori

A famous teatime snack of Kerala that you get to buy in every restaurant, roadside snack shops, trains, canteens, etc.

Ingredients

Ripe bananas  (nenthra pazham)    – 2 nos
Wheat  flour                 – 3 /4  cup
Rice flour                      – 1 /4 cup

Cardamom powder       – 2 pinches
Water
Oil

Instruction

Cut banana lengthwise.

Mix all ingredients from the ingredient list except for ripe banana to prepare the batter. Add water little by little to make the batter. The batter should be lump free after all the mixing done. The batter should not be too thick or thin in consistency (you can check my video on how to make pazhampori to have a look at the batter consistency).

Heat oil in a pan. Dip banana in the batter and coat the batter evenly. Now deep fry batter-coated bananas in hot oil. Remove on to a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Serve pazhampori / banana fritters with hot chai.
