Pavakka kichadi without coconut is an easy preparation with bittergourd.
The traditional pavakka kichadi made as part of Kerala Sadhya uses coconut.
This recipe uses fried bittegourd and tastes more like a raita.

Bittergourd – 1
Green chillies, chopped – 5
Salt – as needed
Curd – ¼ litre
Coconut oil – as needed
For Tempering
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Dry red chillies – 1
Curry leaves
METHOD
Cut bitter gourd into thin round pieces.
Fry bitter gourd pieces and crush them.
Beat curd nicely to remove any lumps.
Add crushed bitter gourd and green chillies to beaten curd.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When it pops, add dry red chilli and curry leaves.
Pour tempering above curry.
