Dal tadka

Tadka dal is a popular north Indian dish. Tadka refers to tempering .                       


Toor dal  –  1 cup

Turmeric powder- 1 /4 tsp

Green chilli – 4 nos

Onion  chopped – 1 no

Cumin seed  – 1 tsp

Red chilli – 2 nos

Curry leaves

Salt as needed

Coriander leaves – 2 tbs

Ghee   -2 tbs

Oil  – 2 tsp


Heat  oil in  a pressure cooker.  Saute onion, green chillies, and 

curryleaves for 2 minutes add  toor dal, turmeric powder  and salt along  with 2-3 cups of water. Pressure cook for 2 minutes.

Heat  ghee in a pan , add cumin seeds, dry red chillies and allow it to splutter . Pour it over the curry prepared  in the pressure 

cooker.Serve with  coriander leaves. Tadka goes well with roti and rice.
