Chicken rasam/ Kozhi rasam


Chicken cut in to small pieces – 500 gm
Pearl onion chopped      – 1 cup
Tomato chopped            – 1 cup
Chilli powder                 – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder           – 1/2 tbsp
water      – 5 cups

For Rasam

Pepper           –  2 tsp

Cumin seeds  – 2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds-1tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Dry red chillies     – 4 nos
Garlic             – 3 cloves
Oil as needed
Curry leaves
Asafoetida  powder  -2 tbsp
water    – 4 cup
salt as needed
Coriander leaves


Cook chicken, pearl onions, tomatoes, chilli powder and turmeric powder in 5 cups of water.

Grind peppercorns, cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds.To this, add
coriander powder, dry red chilles and garlic and grind again.

Heat oil in a pan, add curry leaves. Add ground masala, salt, asafoetida, and cooked chicken along with its stock. Kozhi rasam is 
ready. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with plain rice, cumin rice, vegetable rice.
