Chow chow


Chow chow  – 1 big

Toor dal        – 1/4 cup

Sambar powder – 1 tsp

Small onion        – 6 nos

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Salt as needed

To grind

Grated coconut  – 1/4 cup

Cumin seeds    – 1/2 tsp

To temper
Coconut oil   – 1 tsp

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Urad dal   – 1 tsp

Dry red chillies -2 nos

Curry leaves

Peel and cube chow chow.  Grind grated coconut and cumin seeds to a smooth paste. Pressure cook toor dal along with sambar powder, small onion, turmeric powder, and salt till three whistles. Now open the cooker and add the smooth paste to it. Boil it. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies, and curry leaves. Pour this over curry.
