Healthy Oats upma


 Oats            – 2 cups

 Mustard seeds  – 1 tsp

 Curry leaves      – 8-10

 Green chillies chopped – 2 nos

  Peanut                – 2 tbsp

Onion chopped     – 1 no

Green peas          – 1/2 cup

Carrot chopped    – 1/4 cup

Water                 – 2 1/2 cup

Oil as needed

Salt as needed


Dry roast oats for 2 -3 minutes. Keep this aside. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds. Saute curry leaves, green chillies, ginger, and peanuts. When peanuts turn brown in colour, add onions and saute till it becomes light brown in colour. Add green peas and carrot and saute for a minute. Add 2 1/2 cups of water and allow it to boil. When the water starts to boil, reduce the heat, add oats and stir well Close the lid and cook it for 2 minutes. When the water is reduced and oats is cooked, you are ready to serve oats upma.

  3. What a healthy and very refreshing upma, I always like the simple and authentic flavors you use rather than using over the top spices!!
    Love this humble upma, much needed change from the regular rava upma! 🙂
