Puttu is a favorite breakfast from Kerala.
It is generally served with kadala curry, cherupayar curry, or ripe banana.
Puttu is very easy to make nowadays as you can easily get readymade puttu powder in all stores.
Rice powder – 2 cups
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Water – 1 /2 – 3/4 cup or as needed
Salt to taste
In a bowl, add rice powder, salt, and 3 tbsp of grated coconut. Mix well.
Sprinkle water little by little to the rice powder and mix it.
The powder should be slightly wet for steaming.
Puttu is usually made in a puttu maker.
Layer the puttu maker with grated coconut, then add rice powder, then again coconut.
Steam for 3 minutes. Switch off the stove.
Serve puttu hot.
