Puttu is a favorite breakfast in Kerala generally served with kadala curry, egg curry, beef curry and banana . This is very easy to make now a days as you can get puttu powder ready made in all stores.
Rice powder – 2 cups
Grated coconut – 1 cup
water – 1 /2 – 3/4 cup or as needed
salt to taste
Add salt and 3 tablespoons of grated coconut to the rice powder and mix well. Add water little by little to the rice powder and mix it. The powder should be wet enough for steaming, but you have to be careful when adding water to the rice powder. Puttu has to be made in a puttu maker. Layer the puttumaker with some grated coconut first, then add the rice powder, and then coconut again. Steam for 2-3 minutes, take out from stove, and serve hot.
You can have puttu with banana, egg curry, or beef potato curry.
