Koorka Thoran/ Chinese potatoes thoran


Koorka/chinese potatoes     –  250 gm

Grated coconut  – 3/4- 1 cup

Green chillies      –  4 no

Garlic chopped   –  1 tsp

Cumin seeds        – 1/4 tsp

Red chilli flakes     –  1/2 tsp

Shallots  chopped    – 2 tbsp

Turmeric powder      – 1/2 tsp

Mustard seeds          – 1/2 tsp

urad  dal                      – 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves


Coconut oil

Peel the skin of koorka and cut them in to pieces.  Pressure cook koorka with little water and salt till 1 whistle.

Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, urad dal Saute chopped shallots, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves. Add turmeric powder and red chilli flakes. Now add koorka. Stir them, but don’t mash them. Add grated coconut and stir fry them. Koorka thoran is ready to be served with rice.
