Koorka ularthu/Chinese potato stir fry

Koorka /  chinese potato  – 250 gm
Green chilli                    – 2 nos
Pearl onion chopped           –  1/4 cup   
      
Garlic  chopped                    –  2 cloves  
Chilli  powder                   –  1 tsp 
Turmeric powder                  –  1/2 tsp  
Mustard seeds                      –  1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Salt        –   as needed
Coconut oil   – 2 tbsp
         
Peel the skin of  chines potatoes ( koorka ) and cut them in to pieces.      
Pressure cook chinese potatoes along with salt, turmeric powder and little water.till one whistle. (no overcooking) .



Heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard seeds. Saute garlic, pearl onions, green chillies, and curry leaves. Add  chilli powder. Fry for a minute. Pour in the cooked chinese potatoes stir them well. Koorka stir fry is ready to be served  with rice . koorka fry goes well with rasam and moru curry.

  1. I didn't know that Chinese potatoes exist. Certainly it looks impressive, the style of cooking and the texture of the potatoes. Nice simple dish, nothing over the top but delicious with the right flavors.

    But the stir fry looks yum and very inviting. I can have this with curd rice!!

  4. I love potatoes. We usually make something similar to go with khichdi but next time will add curry leaves. The flavour of curry leaves will make a whole load of difference.
