Masala vegetable oats

Bored of regular sweet oats porridge in the morning. Try this savory oats cooked with cut vegetables and spices. Try this healthy and flavorful masala oats for your breakfast or dinner


Oats – 1 1/2 cups
Frozen vegetable or fresh vegetables – 1 cup (Peas, carrot, beans)
Onion, chopped – 1 small
Garlic, crushed – 2 nos
Chilli powder -1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – a pinch
Oil – 1 tbsp
Salt as needed
Water – 5 cups or as needed


Heat oil in a pan. Add onion and saute well. When onion turns translucent, add crushed garlic, chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Saute well on a low flame. Now add chopped vegetables, close the lid and cook for 1 -2 minutes. Add oats and stir for 1 minute. Add 5 cups of hot water and stir well.  When the masala oats gets a semi-thick porridge consistency, switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
