Masoor Dal Curry / Masoor Parippu Curry
Masoor Dal – 1 cup
Green chilly – 2 slit lengthwise
Curry leaves – few
Chilly powder – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon
Onion – 1 medium size sliced
Soak masoor dal for 1/2 an hour. Cover and cook till the dal is done.
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and then the onion. Fry till the onion turns translucent. Add chilly powder, turmeric powder and fry for ½ a minute. Add cooked masoor dal to this. If necessary, add water to reach the consistency required. Cook for another 2 minutes. Enjoy with roti/plain rice.
Optional: Add some ghee to get a rich taste.
