INGREDIENTS
Green moong dal / Cherupayar – 1 cup
Green chilli, slit – 2 -3
Curry leaves
Pepper powder – 2-3 tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Small onions, sliced – ¼ cup
Garlic, chopped – 1 tbsp
Salt – as needed
Oil – 2 tbsp
INSTRUCTIONS
Wash moong dal.
Pressure cook moong dal with green chillies, curry leaves, salt and water. Cook for 2-3 whistles.
Don’t overcook. Set it aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add small onions. Saute well.
When onion turns light brown in color, lower the flame. Add pepper powder and turmeric powder. Mix well.
Add cooked dal. Allow it to boil.
Cook till curry thickens.
Serve hot with steaming puttu, kanji, or chapati.
