Moong dal pepper curry / Cherupayar curry

Ingredients


Moong dal / Cherupayar – 1 cup
Green chilli, slit- 2 – 3 nos
Curry leaves
Pepper powder –  2  – 3tsp
Turmeric powder- 1 /4 tsp
Small onions, sliced- 1 /4 cup 
Garlic chopped – 1 tbsp
Salt – as needed
Oil   –   2 tbsp



Method



Wash moong dal. Pressure cook moong dal with green chillies, curry leaves, salt and water. Cook for 2-3 whistles. Don’t overcook. Set aside. 

Heat oil in a pan. Add small onions. Saute well. When it turns light brown in colour, lower the flame. Now add pepper powder and turmeric powder. Mix well. Now add cooked moong dal  to this. Allow it to boil. Now cook till the curry thickens. Serve hot with steaming puttu, kanji or chapati.








Serve  hot with  puttu  (  steam cake) rice.  chapatti   and  kanji.  This  curry is very  good for kids as it is not spicy.
