Ingredients
Bitter gourd cut in to round pieces – 2 nos
Chopped shallots – 2 tbsp
Chopped green chillies – 2 nos
Kashmiri chilli powder – 2 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Tomato chopped – 1 nos
Tamarind – a lime size
Oil
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Salt
Method
Soak tamarind in little water . Heat oil in a pan, saute shallots, green chillies and bittergourd. When the bittergourd turns light red in colour, add chilli powder, turmeric powder and tomato. Now add 1 cup of water and salt. When the bittergourd is half cooked, add tamarind water and cook it. When it is done, keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves. Pour this over the curry.
Pavakka mulakittathu is ready to be served.
