Ragi or finger millet is one of the most nutritious and healthy cereals. Ragi is a natural source of calcium for kids and aging people,, Calcium with vitamin D help strengthen the bones. It also helps to reduce weight and bring down the cholesterol level.
Ingredients
Ragi powder – 2 cups
Water – 2 cups or as needed
Salt as needed
Oil – 1 tbsp
Method
In a pan, dry roast ragi powder on low flame till a nice aroma wafts through air. It takes 2 – 3 minutes. keep aside.
In a pan, boil water along with salt and oil. Add this water little by little to the ragi powder.. Use a spoon to mix this as it will be very hot. When the mixture is warm enough to handle, knead well using hand to form a soft dough. Press the above ragi mixture through idiyappam maker. Place this in greased idli moulds. Idiyappam can be topped with grated coconut. Using a steamer steam the idiyappam for 10 minutes. Serve hot with coconut milk, vegetable stew, egg roast, etc.
They look like chocolate angel hair to me, and which is good! I have never had idiyappam in my life, but after looking at these, I want them badly in life.
