
Raw banana thoran is a nutritious tasty traditional dish goes well with rice, sambar and rasam,
Ingredients
Raw banana/Ethakka/Pachakaya – 2 Nos
Grated coconut – 3/4 cup
Green chillies – 4 Nos
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Garlic – 2 cloves
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Red chillies – 2 Nos
Small onion – 4 Nos
Curry leaves
Salt
Oil
Method
Peel the banana and cut in to square pieces , soak it in salt water for sometime.
Grind grated coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic, and turmeric powder to a coarse paste. Set aside.
Cook raw banana along with salt, turmeric powder, and little water. When banana is cooked, add the coarse coconut paste. Lower the flame. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Switch off the stove.
Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies, shallots, and curry leaves. When the shallots turn brown in colour, add the above curry to this. Mix well and keep it on medium heat with lid on for 1 minute.
This curry goes along well with rice, sambhar, rasam.
