Vegetable idli


Idli rice – 1 /2 kg
Urad dal – 200 gm
Salt  as needed
Carrot  – 1 medium
Beans – 4 no
Cauliflower – 1 /4 cup
capsicum – 1 /2
Ginger  – a small piece
Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
Oil  – little
Pepper -1 tsp


Wash  and soak urad dal for 4 hours. Grind rice and urad dal separately adding water as needed. Add ground rice to the ground urad dal along with salt and allow to ferment.  Chop vegetables , now add this to the dosa batter. Add one teaspoon pepper powder to this batter. Grease the idli molds and pour the mixture to this and cook in a steamer. Serve hot with sambar or chutney .
