Vermicelli upma


Semiya / vermicelli – 1 cup
onion, chopped  – 1 medium.
green chill – 1 no
ginger chopped   -1 /2 tsp
red chili — 2 nos
mustard seed –1 tsp
Urdu  dal –1 tsp
Chana dal –1 tsp
carrot chopped   –1 no(small)
curry leaves –few
salt as needed
Oil or ghee


Add 1 tsp oil in a pan roast the vermicelli to light golden brown.

Add 2 tsp of oil in a pan add mustard seeds,uzunnu dal,channa dal,curry leaves when this must pops add onion, green chilli and red chilli and fry till    translucent .Now add carrot and saute a while. Then add 2 cups of water, salt to taste and cover the pan with a lid. when the water comes to a boil add the roasted vermicelli and cook for a few minutes till the water is absorbed .Switch off the flame.

Serve hot with sugar or curry.
